What is a Title 1 School?
A school gets a Title 1 designation if a high percentage (at least 40%) of its students are from low-income households.
Are there benefits of Magruder being a Title 1 school?
Title 1 is a US Department of Education Program which supplements these schools with additional funding. These funds are used to support effective, evidence-based educational strategies that close the achievement gap and enable the students to meet the state's challenging academic standards (). At Magruder, this means funds can be used towards additional courses, materials, staffing, and emotional support personal.
How does the program fit into Magruder's academic goals?
Our school is a collaboration between parents, school, and the community: working together to create and set goals for an optimum learning environment and resources for high student achievement. Title 1 funds are allocated to help supplement needed resources to meet these collaboration goals. More information on that can be read in the Parent-School Compact and the ongoing Student Plan and Achievement Report listed below. All Magruder parents are encouraged to take an active role at Magruder: School Site Council, Volunteering, joining the PTSA are among the many opportunities to do so.
School Accountability Report Card (SARC)
This is the annual report to the California Department of Education (CDE). The purpose of this report is to allow public comparison of schools for student achievement, environment, resources & demographics.

Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA)
This plan outlines the instructional needs of Magruder students and how the district funds will be used to meet the goals of this plan. Every year, by state regulations, the School Site Council (SSC) and the school's instructional leadership are responsible for developing and revising this plan. One of the tasks given to the SSC is to monitor and review performance data during the year: making sure the SPSA plan is effective and is meeting its goals.
